After living in Thailand, Sophy and her family moved to the USA. They first lived in Oregon and opened a Cambodian restaurant there that they ran for 20 years. After success in Oregon, Sophy decided to move to Long Beach, CA which has a thriving Cambodian community. Sophy got a job working at her aunts Cambodian restaurant in Long Beach. Sophy loved living and working in Long Beach and decided to stay. After working for her aunt, Sophy, decided to open her own Cambodian restaurant which is now “Sophy’s.”

For over 60 years, the Baskin Robbins on Los Coyotes Diagonal has been making customers happy with their delicious ice cream. The ice cream shop is one of the top Baskin Robbins locations in Southern California and is run by Tom Brazil. Tom grew up in Oklahoma then moved to Long Beach later and became an accountant. In 2008, Tom was laid off from his accounting job, and then decided he wanted to change his career and own a business. Tom’s wife told him to have a business that would put people in a good mood so Tom decided to work in the ice cream industry. Tom purchased the Baskin Robbins on Los Coyotes and began his journey in the ice cream field.
The Baskin Robbins on Los Coyotes Diagonal has been thriving under Tom’s leadership. Tom focuses on providing high quality customer service at his ice cream shop. He is kind and welcoming and loves seeing customers happy. Tom has many returning customers at his ice cream shop and hears stories about it. Adult customers tell Tom how their grandparents used to take them to his Baskin Robbins to get ice cream when they were kids. Cirilo was a manager for the previous owner of the restaurant for many years then purchased it a few years ago and started the new, “La Cocina.” The name “La Cocina” means “the kitchen” in Spanish which represents the restaurant’s food and style. La Cocina offers real authentic Mexican food. Cirilo and Maria Elena want the restaurant to represent what is important to them which is family, culture, and community.
Cirilo and Maria Elena changed the restaurant’s previous food style and made it more delicious by using their secret family recipes.
